The Iowa State University Research Foundation reported preliminary results for Fiscal Year 2018 with record or near-record numbers in a multitude of metrics. While the number of executed license and option agreements was nearly flat compared to FY17, the number of technology disclosures grew by over ten percent to 145 disclosures and the number of issued patents grew by over fifty percent to 42 U.S. Utility Patents in FY18. In addition, the number of non-provisional patent filings grew in FY18 to 85, an increase of seventy percent over FY17.

Not to be outdone, the Industry Contracts team in the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer reported for FY18 an increase in the number of industry-sponsored research agreements to 404 (an increase of nearly 15% over FY17).  They also reported an increase in the number of material transfer agreements (MTA) and confidentiality agreements (CDA) of 21% over FY17.
