David Spalding, the Raisbeck endowed dean of the Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business and interim vice president of economic development and industry relations at Iowa State University, testified Wednesday, December 14, 2022 before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Research and Technology about the impact of Iowa State’s entrepreneurial programming and to share the university’s perspective on the Economic Development Administration’s Build to Scale program. Iowa State has received nearly $1 million in awards from the program to support the the ISU Startup Factory, which launched in 2016, and the Iowa Go 2 Market accelerator program, which launched in 2020 in partnership with Bioconnect Iowa. “These programs are the centerpieces of our work with startups, and both have provided substantial economic return on investment,” Spalding said in his testimony.
