Dana Rewoldt
Ames, IA — Interim Vice President of Economic Development David Spalding announced the Iowa State University Research Foundation, Inc. (ISURF) Board of Directors has selected Dana Rewoldt as the new ISURF President. Additionally, Spalding announced he has appointed Rewoldt interim director of Iowa State’s Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer (OIPTT). The appointments were effective August 5.
Rewoldt succeeds Lisa Lorenzen, who announced she was leaving for a new opportunity at the University of Missouri after leading the Iowa State offices for eight years.
“I am pleased Dana has agreed to take on these roles to ensure Iowa State remains on the forefront of economic development through our university’s technology transfer,” Spalding said. “With Dana’s experience and leadership, our mission to get university technologies out to benefit society will remain strong. And, I truly appreciate her stepping up to lead as we navigate this transition in OIPTT.”
Most recently Rewoldt served as Associate Director of ISURF and OIPTT, a position she has held for five years. She previously served as head international IP counsel for Advanta and as Senior Patent Attorney for Syngenta.
About stepping into the roles, Rewoldt says, “[(ISURF), and (OIPTT)] have a respected reputation for consistently licensing Iowa State University-invented technology to industry. ISURF and OIPTT are engaged in building on this foundation to streamline and expand our relationships with industry, and I am honored to lead and help contribute to the future of this incredibly important work.”
Rewoldt has an all-Iowa education, with a Juris Doctorate from Drake University, Master’s degree in Rhetoric Composition and Professional Communication from Iowa State University, and Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Iowa.
