Patsy Duncan

AMES, Iowa (April 14, 2020) – After 29 years at Iowa State University and over 20 years at the Iowa State University Research Foundation, Inc. (ISURF) and Office of Intellectual Property (OIPTT), Patsy Duncan hung up her headset for the final time as she celebrated her April 4 retirement.

In 1997, Duncan was looking for a new work “home.” She found that home as the ISURF disclosure secretary, a role she held for many years before becoming the face of ISURF and OIPTT as the receptionist and departmental secretary in 2010.

Prior to her time at ISURF, she also worked in the College of Engineering, Ames Laboratory and College of Veterinary Medicine, for a total of 29 years at Iowa State University.

Duncan worked with numerous inventors, staff administrators, sponsors and licensees over the years. She preferred to work behind the scenes, but was always ready to answer questions and offer help to all who needed it. Lynne Mumm, OIPTT Senior Negotiator said, “Patsy has been the glue that holds our office together. We will miss her greatly.”

Duncan plans to enjoy her retirement with her husband, Carl, traveling to their favorite vacation spot. All her friends at ISURF and OIPTT want to thank her for 22 great years and wish her the best in the next chapter of her life.
