AMES, Iowa – The Land O’Lakes Foundation has made a $5 million commitment to Iowa State University that will improve the quality of an Iowa State education, attract and retain top faculty and research talent in supply chain management, and inspire innovation in key areas on Iowa State’s campus.

A significant portion of Land O’Lakes’ gift will support construction of the Student Innovation Center, the approximately 140,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building that will serve as the hub on campus for hands-on projects where students can collaborate across a wide range of disciplines.

Part of Land O’Lakes’ commitment will also support scholarships in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, as well as provide flexible funding to facilitate future interactions with students. Lastly, the gift will establish a named endowed professorship in the Ivy College of Business for a faculty member who will further elevate Iowa State’s top-rated supply chain management program.

“Both Iowa State University and Land O’Lakes are committed to improving people’s well-being by protecting and enhancing our environment; ensuring long-term productivity of food, feed, fiber and fuel; and providing strong economic opportunities now and far into the future,” said Wendy Wintersteen, President of Iowa State University. “We are delighted to have Land O’Lakes as a partner in preparing the leaders who will take a holistic approach to addressing local and global challenges.”

“We’re excited at Land O’Lakes to be able to increase the investment in our partnership with Iowa State. It is particularly rewarding to support a facility that will provide students with real-world experience in the areas of entrepreneurship and teamwork,” said Chris Policinski, President and CEO of Land O’Lakes, Inc. “Land O’Lakes is appreciative of the strong relationship we’ve built with Iowa State over the years, and we look forward to the next chapter in that partnership.”

The Land O’Lakes–Iowa State relationship began almost 40 years ago. Since then, Land O’Lakes, Inc. and the Land O’Lakes Foundation have continued to support Iowa State, primarily people and programs in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Ivy College of Business. Most recently, Land O’Lakes funded undergraduate scholarships for women and minorities in agriculture and business, as well as a fellowship to support women and minority graduate students in agriculture and the life sciences.

Founded in 1921, Land O’Lakes, Inc., one of America’s premier agribusiness and food companies, is a member-owned cooperative with industry-leading operations that span the spectrum from agriculture to consumer foods.
