Mark Burke chosen for Small Business of the Month Award

AMES, Iowa – America’s SBDC Iowa (SBDC) is pleased to announce that Mark Burke, owner, Burke Golf Academy and Warrior Run Golf Course, Norwalk, is the winner of the SBDC’s statewide Business of the Month Award.

The Burke Golf Academy, located at Warrior Run Golf Course in Norwalk, Iowa, offers individualized instruction by PGA Teaching Professionals Mark Burke and Carol Nitzschke- Henrich, for beginning, junior, and advanced players. Its golf clinics and lessons are designed for individuals, couples, families, and groups of any age and ability. Warrior Run Golf Course, home of Burke Golf Academy and the Central Iowa GIVE Foundation, offers nine immaculately maintained holes over gently rolling hills in Norwalk. The course is family and walker friendly and is challenging for all skill levels. There is a clubhouse, full-service pro shop, practice range, and golf carts.

Jan Owens Bruene, Certified Business Advisor at the Mid Iowa SBDC, says, “Mark worked extensively to get his academy going and improve the golf course. Since opening in December 2014, he has grown the business and made significant improvements to both the facility and its practice range. In addition, the impact on the Norwalk community has been great—Mark was honored with the 2016 Economic Impact Award for a Veteran-Owned Business from the Warren County Economic Development Corporation.”

The SBDC Business of the Month Award will be presented to Mark by Mid Iowa SBDC Regional Director Justin Akers and SBDC Counselor Jan Owens Bruene, who nominated him for the award.
