The Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer (OIPTT) and the Iowa State University Research Foundation (ISURF) have created a series of reference documents to help guide faculty, staff and external partners on how to work with OIPTT. Located here, these tip sheets cover a variety of topics, from working with industrial partners to licensing startup technology.

ISURF created the Just in Time Series, describing what ISU inventors can expect at every stage of the intellectual property disclosure process. The series begins with a checklist on what factors to consider to determine the obligation to disclose IP, continues with the IP review and patent filing processes, and ends with what to expect if your technology is licensed to a commercial partner.

OIPTT developed a Working with Industry series that describes finding industry partners, developing industry budgets, and agreements for protecting your ideas and materials as well as industry sponsored research. In addition, the Working with Industry series also covers a variety of specialty agreements including field and animal trials as well as technical evaluations of a company’s product.
