Lake Time Brewery, Clear Lake, chosen for Small Business of the Month Award

AMES, Iowa – America’s SBDC Iowa (SBDC) is pleased to announce that Lake Time Brewery in Clear Lake, is the winner of the SBDC’s statewide August Business of the Month Award.

Lake Time Brewery was founded by Bob and Suzy Rolling in 2012.  Bob’s interest in craft beer started while he was a stay-at-home dad for a year.  He started exploring home brewing recipes and increased his skills.  Noticing that Clear Lake was a natural place for a microbrewery and taproom, he started Lake Time Brewery.

Local and tourists have enjoyed the taproom since it opened.  The company also grew to include distributing kegs to 23 counties across Iowa.  The next logical step for the business was to expand their distribution to include cans as well as the kegs.  This allows more and more people to enjoy the craft brew and not have to wait until the taproom is open.

In January 2016, Bob visited the North Iowa Area SBDC and worked with Regional Director, Brook Boehmler on a business plan and cash flow for the new venture.  In May 2018, the canning line began operations.  Boehmler said, “Bob Rolling and his team are a great example of how skill, passion, and hard work come together to make a thriving community business, creating jobs and keep local dollars local while creating a quality product.”
