AgCom Insurance Agency, Cherokee, chosen for Cherokee County Business of the Quarter Award

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Western Iowa Tech Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is pleased to announce that AgCom Insurance Agency, with offices in Cherokee and Holstein, is the winner of the Cherokee County Business of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2019.

AgCom Insurance Agency began in March 2007. Sheryl Leonard, Agency Owner, saw the need for a convenient solution of providing both commercial insurance along with crop insurance at one location. The idea has been very successful, and now she has a team of six insurance agents and two locations.

Through the assistance of the Western Iowa Tech SBDC, the company received marketing ideas and network development resources, especially when the company first began.  Leonard says of Western Iowa Tech SBDC Regional Director, Todd Rausch, “Todd and the SBDC gave me the tools and confidence to build a business that reflects integrity, honesty and credibility.”

Leonard says her biggest triumph is putting together a great team, with a focus of giving back to the community. Her team has cleaned ditches, sponsored 5K runs, hosted Chamber coffees and made blankets for local nursing homes. Leonard is especially proud of participating in the local Feed the Farmer program.

The award was presented by Western Iowa Tech SBDC Regional Director, Todd Rausch, on Monday, May 20 at AgCom Insurance Agency, in Cherokee.
